Hi everyone,
Im going away on a holiday for 4 days (three o/n) and I was wondering what to do in regards to feeding my axalotl over this period.

Once before I went away for a week and I took her over to my mums but it was a stressful journey in the car and I dont want to do it again if Im only going away for a few nights.

I normally feed her every second day with a whole cube.

Will she be ok if I feed her the day before I leave and again the day that I do leave, as she will only be without food for 2 full days, should this tie her over till I get back ? or is there something I can put in her tank that wont spoil the water quality.

Ive not found anything in the shops that I can use, so wondering what you guys do when you go away.

cheers

If your axolotl is a healthy weight it can gladly go a few days with no food feed it the day you leave - but make sure you remove all uneaten food, don't be tempted to leave anything that could compromise water quality or turn into floating weird white stuff (as it can do if not taken out) make sure you check the water & do your regular water change before you leave - if your light isn't on a timer leave it off, it won't be a problem. I'm not sure if you have tank temperature issues (didn't look where you were located) close up the house so it stays dark & angle a fan over the tank, just in case it's a hot day while you're away (disregard if its snowing where you are  )
If you check all the obvious stuff then I'm sure your little one will be just fine while you're away :)

Have fun & bring him back a postcard :D

Oooh you're in Brissy so the bit about temp is applicable - if your tank temp is stable without you ever worrying then it should be fine - but check the forecast & I'd definitely leave a fan just incase the weather gets freaky (I've been leaving my aircon on 18 when we had the stinking hot 46deg days - just for the dogs & lotls!)

Oh & feed the lotl when you get home :D

Hi, and thanks for that, yes she is a good healthy weight and size. Im not too keen on leaving anything electrical on while Im away (however Im leaving the tank filter on) Ive gone away for 2 days one before on it was stinking hot when we came back, but as the house was all closed up and the window coverings shut, the house was actually really cool inside (having decent insulation really helped) So I think she will be ok temp wise as long as I do the same.
I also intend on doing a full clean out a day or two before I go and feed her up.
I know she wont starve to death or anything, but I dont like the idea of her stressing out and thinking that Ive forgotten about her lol :)

She'll be fine :D
I'm sure she'll miss your doting on her (worms! food!) but that means she'll appreciate you even more when you get back :p sounds like she has a very caring mum who's going to make sure she'll be just fine :)
