I believe cyanoacrylate glue (superglue) is safe for use in aquariums - but does anyone know if epoxy resin glues such as Araldite are safe too? The end has come off my spray bar and now it's making a jet across the water, so I need to glue the end plug back in.

Can't you use silicon?

Oh I didn't know that was a brand I was genuinely confused

I had read on here that aquarium silicone should be left for 24 hours to cure before being put in the aquarium. Cyanoacrylate sets incredibly quickly, and epoxy resin is also pretty quick. I want to minimise the time the filter is out of action.

I'm not sure of anything that cures very quickly, I'd probably want to leave anything out of the tank for at least 24 hours either way. You can make a very good filter out of a bottle with a little sponge and some media with your air pump that would be okay to run in the mean time and good to have around for events like that in the future.

I think I'm just gonna jam a cork in it, then.

Hot glue should be safe. I have used it in fish tanks and never had issues as far as water parameters changing or fish fitting sick. It dries fast and easy to apply. A lot of people even use it when securing plants to rocks or driftwood. Can be placed in the tank as soon as it cools offand can be used on other items that might crack in the future.
