I have been reading threads about a glue/peat/water mix being put on great stuff, I am definitely going to use this in my set up, but was wondering if it would stick directly onto glass.

My plan is to put a layer of it on the glass of my tank where the great stuff will be sprayed, let it dry and then cover it with great stuff so that all you see from the outside is the peat mixture, not yellow foam.

Anyone know if this will work?

If you use silicone sealant as the "glue", it will stick very well to glass.

Can I mix the peat with that and have it dry so that it looks like its just peat.....I was also thinking about doing this with sand, any idea if that will work?

It's difficult (messy) to try to mix anything with silicone caulk before spreading. I suppose it could be done, though. You can more easily pat sand or peat moss onto the surface of wet silicone. I've done this with coco-fiber (very similar to peat moss), but after a few months under water the coco fiber has mostly worn off. For a place between glass and foam, this wouldn't be a problem.

Were you planning to use clear silicone, or black? You might be able to use black and skip the peat moss. I'm thinking that, even with peat moss in it, you might still see some of the whiteness of the foam underneath. You might want to do a small-scale experiment first and see how it looks before applying to an actual aquarium.

I was going to use a clear silicone, I had considered sand....maybe I'll try that!

I'll take some pics of my experiment and post them!

Thanks!!

Jen-I just looked at your website...

What you did with the sand and silicone is exactly what I want to do...How did it look from the other side? Same as it did from the top?
