Glass quality question

Someone on another board has put forth this idea that tanks built for reptile vs. tanks built for fish have different quality glass (i.e. reptile tanks 'weren't built to hold water,' one glass will break easier than the other, etc.). For example, is the price difference in the same volume tank justified or a marketing thing?

Any truth to it?

Some of the commercial brands of tanks made for Reptiles only are indeed made with thinner glass. These tanks usually have labeling stating that they are not made to hold water.

This is one of the reasons that I use commercial aquaria for a lot of my animals as this allows for other uses if an animal outgrows its housing.
