After going through all the photos on here, I thought that I would take a picture of Gilly's tank to share with you all. He shares his tank with 3 apple snails, which he actually has left alone, although I have another tank with fish in if he does decide to start trying to eat them! I have had Gilly now for 6 weeks, he (I say he, but I dont know!) was 15cms when I got him and is now 17cm and eating VERY well.

I just love his log house. It is a lot better than my axolotl log house.

Looks like a nice home and Gilly is cute.

Thanks AnnMarie, I'm just now thinking of getting some backing for the tank, dont wanna keep seeing my kitchen tiles through the tank!

yer his little house is cool.

beats the pants off of my plant pot. lol

Wow!m It's a wonderful axie house! your axie's lucky! simple tank but beautiful!!!

simple tanks are the best.
ive got plant pots and plants in mine, and a couple of big rocks and bogwood

Ayyy! :D
That's the same make of loghouse I have!

Love the design - don't forget to stir the sand regularly.

i like the way the sand goes up on one side.
with me ive got the water tevel down lower, and ive got margin/bog plants like bamboo and papyrus coming out

I like the root! Your plants seem very healthy too - my axies seem to take sick peverted pleasure in destroying my precious plants before my eyes, especially if i'm not too snappy with the pellets :p

Thanks for all the comments.

Amber, I hadnt thought about stiring up the sand, I shall make sure I do that.

The plants actually havent been in there too long, with the exception of the one on the bogwood, I'm waiting to see which does best before buying any more. Not knowing much about which plants were best suited, I just selected a few different ones. Gilly hasnt actually bothered trying to up-root them yet, although he has been found sitting in them!

I'll send you one of my healthy stalks, and a few other bits if you want!

I also have lots of apple snails if you'd like one/any to be freinds with your yellow?
I have pink ones too!

hi
good plants would be ambers lol
amazon swards are good if the water is above 20c
and java fern are good if the water temp is above 18c(thats the one on the wood)
it would be good to stick with these, and always have a few,coz these are hardy, and axies love to stick their eggs to their leaves.
also vallis is good(thin, straight leaves, usually comes in a bunch)and they will self propogate like strawberries.

Beata, the tank temp is around 22C, I'm currently keeping a close eye on it, and limiting the light use to keep this temp down lower.

Amber, I have send you an e-mail.

As least I'm getting educated on all the different plants! - Thanks everyone.

lol, yea
22C is about right, coz its comfortable for the axies and the plants!
