Cute. Mine pay no attention to each other whatsoever. Instead, they swim around begging. I've resorted to covering their tank with a towel so they can't see me, in hopes they'll 'get to know each other' and make babies.

That last picture shows the really cool coloration that T. karelinii have. It's so complex, greens, purples, greys. Awesome.

I think this nosing thing is to check to see if the other newt is a worm or perhaps see if they are holding a worm. I noticed that when one newt grabs ahold of a worm any newts nearby immediately rush over and try to steal it(or grab an arm or tail). The one with the worm in its mouth of course run off through the moss. I took a very short movie clip of one wrestling a worm but it is dark and I don't know how to upload it.

Yeah, the coloring is really interesting, its hard to tell exactly what color they are.

I'm pretty sure this one is a female, with the appetite she(?) has.

They're pretty smart ones.. my verrucosus nose each other out and then try to taste each other too before making a decision on the newt/worm dilemma.

Very good looking animals Joseph! They've really grown since I saw them last. Fingers crossed, maybe they'll figure out soon they can do more than nose
