Getting juvie to go back into the water?

Well my 3 little FBNs are now close to a year out of the water. They have been eating nothing but sprintails and Fruit Flys.

They are all about 1 1/2 inches long. They have access to an area of water in there little tupparware tank. The water is about 1/2 inch deep. But I never see them in there. Only on land. What does it take to get them into the water again. I want to get them eating blackworms again like they did as tadpoles.

I am going to make them a new tank. Any suggestions on the setup, and how to make it so they are comfortable enough to go back into the water?

And if they just wont go back in, suggestions on what to feed them would be nice.

John, I have heard how some people make a tank so that the newt cannot get COMPLETELY dry whereever it goes. You know, like mostly water but an area where to newt can sit with it's head out of the water, but not get totally dry. This apparently has been supposed to reverse the instinct to go on land. I don't know how much stock I would put in it, but it makes a bit of sense, I suppose. Just be sure there are still places where the newt can rest mostly out of the water (but still be sitting in it a little)

That's the strategy I used to get my marms to go aquatic. I did up a little photo diary and posted it in the photo section. Here's the link. http://www.caudata.org/forum/messages/985/45014.html

wow jeff!!! Those newts are awesome looking!!

What is the full scientific name for them. Do you have any you would like to get rid off. I would love a pair of those. Dont care about breeding them, so both could be female.

Triturus marmoratus marmoratus, The Marbled Newt. Sorry, I don't have any available at this time, but there will likely be some for sale in the spring by fellow keepers here. Look for them in the For Sale section.

Excuse my reaction, but I am surprised that you've been a member of this forum for as long as you have and did not know of them before this.
