Hey guys,

I already have a tiger, hes (well i think hes a he i may post a photo later to see if anyone can help with that please say if you identify the sex please :D) anyway "hes" around i'd say 8 inches long maybe a little bigger now and i kind of want to get "him" in a large, deep tank for "him" to walk around and dig in, but i want to get "him" a mate to walk and dig with haha, do you think this is a good idea bearing in mind "hes" been along for a good few years and if it is a good idea what size would "his" new mate need to be?

Cheers guys any help would be great! :D

The new mate shouldn't be much smaller or much bigger than the current resident. You'd want to avoid bullying and potential injury due to size difference. I'd try to get one the same size.

Make sure they are close to the same size. The only problems I've had keeping tigers together is they will sometimes fight over food, so try to coax them to opposite ends of the tank to feed.

cheers guys and you dont think the fact hes been alone for so long will be a problem?

and what size tank would you say is okay for two tigers that size?
in feet please :D

thanks again!

For 2 adult tiger salamanders, a twenty-gallon long aquarium would work (30in long x 12in wide x 12in deep)....of course, larger is always fine.

These are solitary animals, a buddy is not needed. If you do introduce a second tiger, keep the sizes similar for the aforementioned reasons. And I would quarantine the second animal for 60 days to protect against disease introduction.
