Getting a larger tank?

My baby is outgrowing his current tank at a rate of knots, husband is picking up a larger tank today from a friend, do I need to cycle the new tank if I'm transferring sand, plants, hides and current filter over to the new tank?

also, could i put something like this down (I don't like the look of bare bottom tanks and even if that wasn't an issue I don't want to stress my baby out) in place of sand?

It would need to cycle, but if you transfer enough stuff over you can expect it to happen in less than a week. Just keep an eye on the levels until everything says it's cycled. If you transfer enough stuff over it should be almost instant!

I'm not sure about the grass thing, looks like it would be very difficult to keep clean
