Gersfeld meeting (just finished)

Dear herpers,

just coming back from the Gersfeld meeting with more than 100 participants from whole Europe. We greeted our first participant from Russia!

Great meeting with optimal presentation, discussion, net-working and especially animals.

Hi Uwe,
can you write who from Russian participated in the Gersfeld meeting?

It was Nik Poyarkov who was already in Germany for the SEH meeting in Bonn and was lucky to be able to lengthen his VISA for a few more days. He presented shortly some of his excellent work on Triturus vittatus.

but is (will be) it possible to acquaint with the materials of the meeting in the Internet?

That depends on the contributors, but the presentations will be published in the magazine AMPHIBIA of the DGHT society (www.dght.de) under which authority this meeting was held. And some data will be published in other magazines in time to come. For instance the description of a new Tylototriton/Echinotriton from Vietnam will be published this year in Salamandra (also DGHT magazine).

Well I have posted shots of this species prior to Gersfeld on caudata.org.
I was also quite impressed by the talk of Nik Poyarkov ... he told much in very few time. I do not think anybody of us could compete with the info ratio he brought in his few 10 minutes ....

I am very glad Henk, that the rating of Russian urodelists is rising!

An advanced stage of development of wide-band line of Internet indicates that in 2-3 years we will see the Gersfeld meeting in real time! (and I'll write it on DVD disks!!!) Do you know if DGHT is going to buy a good Internet-TV camera?
