GE Silicone Cure Time???

How long should I wait after using silicone on slate in my aquarium before filling and putting my Axol's back in? Follow the directions? Or add extra time?

I usually wait a little longer just to be safe. Most silicones smell like vinegar and once that smell is gone it's dry.
