Hi guys,

My eggs have been hatching for the past few days and o have noticed that a few of the babies have fuzzy heads but they're still alive! I've been moving the few fuzzy ones into a seperate container where they've unfortunately been dying. What is the cause of this and is it contagious to the other babies? Thanks!

It does sound like fungus. Could be an issue with water quality or temps, or just unhealthy eggs. Some clutches are more robust than others. I would keep separating out the fuzzy ones to try to keep it from spreading to your healthy babies. Not sure if it's contageous, but better to act as though it is just to be safe. Test the water parameters in your hatchling tub and make sure everything is perfect. Larvae are more sensitive to water quality issues than adults.

Thanks Rachel,

I haven't had anymore fuzzy ones so I'm hoping we're in the clear. I have been changing the water daily and the other hatchlings (approximately 80) seem to be healthy and happy as can be! Hopefully we won't have anymore fuzzy ones! :)
