Illness/Sickness: Fungus or not

Hi,

Thank you in advance for your help.

Could you have a look at my little fella and see what is wrong with him? Does he have a fungus or some sort? He shed his skin about 3 weeks ago and he seemed to have some trouble getting it off; I think it might be related but how I don't know.

Also how can I treat it? I've never done a salt bath before so could you explain what to do there as well please if need be.

The skin does look odd. Has this newt always stayed out of the water?

It certainly wouldn't hurt to give some salt baths, but this might just be a harmless deposit of some sort. Instructions for salt baths are here (see appendix at bottom of page):

Yea he stays out of the water most of the time; I just wonder if he has dried out too much or something. I did have a bowl of water for him to sit in but took it out a while ago as he seemed to be going into the water himself but he's stopped that but I put the bowl back for him to sit in.

Also if anyone else has any ideas then I'd appreciate some help (not that I don't appreciate your help Jennewt).

I should add the newt is doing ok otherwise; he's still eating well; he was skin and bones when I got him months ago and he's really fattening up nicely now. He's really tame and doesn't run when you go near him unlike the other newt.
