I just got home from a five day (Thursday-Monday) trip. All appears to be fine, but my ribbed newt has these patches on him

Sorry for the bad quality. Has anyone seen this before? What is it and how can I treat it? Thanks.

How old is your newt? Might just be undergoing some developmental pigmentation changes...

I noticed when I had my leusictic waltl, that it would gain small black dots all over, almost like pores, and they would just shed off, and the process would just repeat itself over and over. But a better quality picture would help

One of mine also gets black pinpoint dots on its pores before shedding, but mine don't get patches like that. It looks more like coloration than disease, to my untrained eye, though. You are brave to handle yours . . . Mine never want to leave the water, either.

I hate handling him because he hates it but I wanted to make the pictures as good as possible (which was hard because he was squirming so I gave up) but good news, Aaron was right, he shed it off this morning :)
