Good afternoon!
My husband and I have a concern with one of our dark melanoid axolotls that we would love input on.
Background tank info: large tank with multiple adult male axolotls that have been together for a few years. Nitrates 10, ammonia and nitrites 0. Temp stays at 66 as we have a chiller.
We noticed two days ago that he seems a bit thinner even though he's eating, and it seems like something is happening to his slime coat/coloring around his gills and eyes- greyish. And his back left foot seems like it has some (fungus?) on the tips? And he wasn't moving it as much as the others. We took him out and put him into a 10 gal with filter bubbler and IAL (so he's been in there for just under 48 hrs). We did a water change today and took a few more pics for comparison to two days ago and can't tell if there is much change. There is also some brown detritus on his back end (that comes off) but we aren't sure if that's just from the IAL. A friend wondered about Saprolegniasis? Wondering thoughts and if we should proceed with furan, aquarium salts or methylene blue? I will attach a few pics

use 100% holtfreters + 0.2g/l magnesium sulphate, give daily baths methylene blue mixed with acriflavine.
once fungus/mold has regressed any stubborn areas can be swabbed with potassium permanganate.
what food is he being fed.
try to reduce temperature to 59°f, ideal temperatures are 59°f - 64°f.

Wow great, thank you! If we have any more questions we will check back.

We are having trouble finding the acriflavine and potassium permanganate...where do you obtain those?

acriflavine is a fish medication commonly used for pond fish, potassium permanganate is also a fish medication, both should be available through pet shops but you might also be able to get them from chemists/pharmacy as well as online ie.. amazon etc..
