Ok, so not strictly axolotl.

My 2 golden axies are now 13 days with me. The tank is one week older than that. Some White Cloud Mountain Minnows in between. Out of 6 WCMM, 1 remains, the rest have been eaten. Today, I found around 20 fry darting around near the surface. How unexpected but exciting. I've put them into a floating breeding box thing but they are so small they undoubtably can fit through the small slits on the bottom. I wonder if they'll be there in the morning. If they are, I'll get some fry food from the LFS and see if I can't raise them until they are more bite sized.....:D

white clouds breed like rabbits, and are what known as broadcast spawners, in that they breed by releasing egg and milt on mass in the water column, the eggs quickly sink to the bottom of the tank and hatch 5 to 12 days later (depending on water temp).

Just feed them crushed flake and they will do fine, some loose pond weed / foxtail floating on the surface will give them some protection till they are bigger but they will eventually all get munch too

For a constant supply i would recommend a seperate 18" or 2 foot tank to keep the adults alive long enough to produce a self sufficient supply of feeders

Good luck with the fry, hope this helps solves the mystery
