Today I received my baby axolotl. I live in Texas, and do not have a chiller for my tank as they are so expensive . I have been carefully putting bags of ice and frozen water in the tank to maintain a temp of 71, but I can't keep doing that. I have a mini fridge, and I can set the temp to anything, therefore being able to maintain the water temp. If I set it for something that would make the water in the range of 62-65 F, how long would I be able to keep my axie in the fridge? He isn't sick, but I don't want to stress him out with the ice bags.

If you keep him in a large-ish container and you can set the fridge so that he's at 11-14 degrees minimum then it should be fine I think.

I actually figured out that I can modify the fridge so I can just place his 10 g tank it in without switching his container
