Hi everyone. My axie is in the fridge for two weeks now thanks to your advice as tank wasn’t cycled. I hear you keep them fridged for no longer than 3 weeks but having issues getting my tank to start cycling which I have posted about on a separate thread. Since my tank won’t be ready for the next few weeks is there advice you can give on how to keep axie when he can’t be in the fridge? His fridge box is fairly large so I could keep him out in the same box. Also please help he is spitting out food so hasn’t eaten for a few days now. Thank you for your knowledge!

why is he in the fridge?
provided the water is changed daily (dechlorinate before adding) and the water is kept cold (also make sure there's a lid as axolotls have a bad habit of trying to jump out) he should be fine tubbed.
being in a fridge will reduce his metabolism so he will require less food.
you mention in another post about using two filters one being a canister type and the other being a small sponge type, could you please elaborate a bit more ie.. internal, external, air driven etc.. this is to see whether the filters can be adjusted to suit your needs without having to buy more.

The forum here advised to put him in the fridge as I don’t have a second tank. I’m keeping him in large lidded box. Took him out the fridge today as worried he isn’t eating. For the tank, appreciate any advice I’m so lost I have followed everything to a tee but still no nitrites appearing! I bought the canister big filter as advice seen as best for axolotl since doesn’t disrupt the flow of water. Then a second smaller one to try increase bio media. I have put photos here I hope that helps. Forgive my ignorance on the mechanisms!

the canister type I believe has three sponges plus a floss pad and plastic balls (I use the same to feed the pipes in my fridge, but it's altered a little) the fine sponge can be removed and bio-media used in it's placed.
the amount of bio-balls in the air sponge are mainly for light bio-load and are ideal for Siamese fighters (bettas) and shrimp tanks.

Where does the forum advise fridging if an axolotl doesn't have a cycled tank? You are confusing fridging with tubbing. Tubbing is *outside* the fridge.
