I have more freshwater limpets than I ever expected in my 75 gallon axolotl aquarium. They're a pain because they always show up on my glass and removing them is just as hard since I'm vertically challenged and the tank sits pretty high. Does anyone know how to remove them? I just tore down my 55 and upgraded because I was so sick and tired of them, only to see more adults in the new tank than what was in the old ? I haven't noticed anything beneficial coming from these guys and I just want the aquarium to look nice again. I was hoping wiping the glass everyday would do something to at least bring down their numbers but to no avail.

What kind of food do you feed the aquarium inhabitants, and is there anything you could do to prevent all traces of uneaten food in the tank? How often do you vacuum the tank? Beyond wiping them off, those are the only things I can think of that might help.

I'm going to run with Jennewt on this one. These little creatures are there for a reason. You have created a perfect environment for them. This should be easily dealt with if you incept one of their requirement ie cut out what ever it is they are feeding on.

They came in on some plants I bought. I feed the axolotls pellets and nightcrawlers that have been cut up, right now they're not getting pellets as often, maybe 25% of the time. I clean my tank once a week with at least a 50% water change and anytime there's poop it get sucked up immediately. The aquarium is clean, I just have quite a bit of live plants and driftwood that they eat off of. There's never any axolotl food for them to eat and when they eat pellets I do a water change the very next day.
