Ha ha, I wondered how he wouldn't know the species of newt! *blush* I am not sure on the moss. I found it growing in my sister's backyard.

I was indeed. I'm all about the moss - I love the look, they're as fascinating and varied as 'higher' plants. Its great low maintenace planting as well, I've built whole terrestial tanks with no other plants but moss(grown, not placed).

Really the title of the thread was a dead give away to the species of the newt :)

How's this for an excuse? I was just so caught up in amphibian admiration, I temporarily lost my mind. :D

I also love moss, and I wish I had this species growing in my yard. It is such a nice color and texture.

awsome picture. i have a cynops orientalis thats a land lover too glad too see its not just me

Polytrichum Commune.
A moss for moist and verry wett places.
