Question: Food stuck to eggs

Like a fool I put my pregnant axolotl in a tank then dropped a pellet in for her to eat. I didn't take it out and now I have eggs with pellet dust on them. Are these likely to rot and die now or are they still as clean as the tank around them? It was brand new water. Presumably bacteria will get on the outside but what's the score? The pellets tend to dissolve over time anyway.

You should have already removed the eggs into a separate container.

Remove the eggs into a container, and you will likely be able to get most the dust off from the eggs being moved around in the water.

It's a separate tank that they're in. The dust isn't too terrible I was just wary of causing harm.

So you put your Axolotl out of its main tank into the tank which your keeping the eggs?

They probably will be fine if it isn't much pellet dust, again I would post images

Yes that's right. I have a big plastic hospital tank for when they're sick or laying eggs. I can post a picture when home. There's about 150 eggs and the axie has shepherded them into one big spawn overnight so they're mixed more than they were when I originally posted. I took out most of the pellet and the dirtiest eggs but I imagine the rest are fine then if there's no major concerns.

It may be a false alarm anyway. When she lays 100-150 eggs they've been hit and miss on whether they're fertile. She laid more and they grew from it although none ultimately survived.
