I have been feeding my 6 year old newt blackworms recently. I find that he stops after he eats about 3 or 4 and does a little burping motion where he holds his mouth open for approx 10 seconds. am i feeding him too much? how much should i give him and how often. i usually put about 20 - 30 on the "offering table" at a time. is this too much/little?

I wouldn't worry about overfeeding. Newts stop eating when they are full. If your tank has sand or gravel, you need to watch out for the accumulation of blackworms in the substrate. I don't know what the yawning is about, but it doesn't sound like anything bad.

All my Cynops Orientalis Morphs yawn after they eat something. It is common to my morphs.

My waltls also yawn but it is usually when I feed them bigger food items not worms.

I think it maybe some action that help them to swallow big item.

ok, thanks guys. he seems to be stopping to do that as often. blackworms are a new peice to his menu. maybe it was just adjusting to a new food
