Floaty newts?

I'm not positive, but I think my newts may be a little floatier than usual.. I was watching one float around last night and he burped and sank again... they're not floating at the top of the water, just kind of bobbing along in the middle.. they're able to get out of the water easily, but none have... is this normal? or is something wrong? I fed them two days ago and they ate as usual.. I've also noticed they've got white around their arm and leg joints, not a lot, just so you can see it.... any ideas?

thanks!!

If they are floating in the middle, not on top, then I think they are fine. Staying in the water all the time is normal too. Without knowing what species they are, it's difficult to say if the white coloration is normal or not.

lol sorry, I guess that might help eh? they are just the usual pet store brand fire bellies... they are less floaty tonight

I can't think of any reason for ordinary firebellies (C. orientalis) to get white color around the leg joints. Is it still noticable? Is it on all legs of all of the newts?

sorry it took me so long to get back, my computer hasn't been working properly.. I've kept an eye on the newts and they're acting normal again... The white is still there around the joints, but I think it's been like that for a while.. it's on all three, but doesn't seem to be bothering any of them and the patches aren't getting bigger

I just don't remember seeing it on newts I've had before :-s
