I plan to fully plant my 100 gallon axolotl tank. I'd like to have some floating plants on top, just in case the light is too much for the axies. What would be best? I'm going to get duckweed, think I'm gonna try pothos.. What other semi-aquatic plants could i grow floating at the top of my tank?

You don't want to get too much to cover the top if youre doing a fully planted tank. The rooted ones are going to need all the light they can get in order to grow properly. Don't worry too much about the lighting against the axies, if it's heavily planted and has adequate hides they won't be bothered by the lighting.

Duck weed overtakes tanks quickly, will dim the lighting quite a bit and has a tendency to clog filters in my personal experience, so be prepared for that with it. Pothos is nice, I have it in my tanks but I notice it needs more heat and light than a regular axi tank gives so you might need a light just for them above the tank. Keep in mind pothos is also poisonous to cats and some animals as well. You might want to check out frog bit, it grows big long fluffy roots and spreads like duck weed.

Avoid duckweed at all costs for the reasons already given, It's almost impossible to get rid of completely in a planted tank once you have it! I like to grow water Hyacinth and water lettuce but it depends on your lighting set up, it needs to think it's growing in full sunlight. The plants are quite big though, so you can just grow a few and it can't get out of hand like duckweed can!

I have dwarf water lettuce floating in my tank. They grow very well in my tank. Can you get this plant where you are?

Dwarf water lettuce is good, also water soldiers float, elodea floats and can easily be thinned out if it grows fast, plus axies like to sit amongst it :D
