Hey so i try to add a variety of plants to my tanks but i dont seem to be able to keep floating plants alive.
I have marimo moss balls, elodea, anubias, mini water lettuce and water soldiers.

Now the first three plants are fine and i have no problems with them, however when it come to the water lettuce and the water soldiers they all seem to die, does anyone have an answer as to why?

Also the water soldier has shrivelled and died with all the leaves falling off but they are still spawning new buds that are growing

Can anyone recommend and hardy plants that might survive like my anubias and elodea?

Did you add any aquatic plant food? Most floaters are greedy and need lots of iron. They also need high light levels. If you can find it, Amazon frogbit (Limnobium) is quite hard to kill and Indian fern (Ceratopteris) is another sturdy choice.

It sounds like your water soldier is growing overwintering buds.

My water lettuce didn't do well in my axie tank - I think it's a light issue. Didn't survive long once I put it the fish tank - snails ate it!

I think light will be an issue in an unlit axie tank, more so for floating plants tucked up under the lid. You could try a dim light.

I have found that plain old pondweed is fine, marimo moss balls are fine, but I can't keep anything else.

Hey thanks for the reply guys, i didnt want to get into plant fertilisers ect as knowing my luck id end up killing my axies  so i havent used any.
My lid is just a see through lid but i understand that i dont have the bright lighting ect that the plants will need, i read that the plants i got were quite hardy haha and thats why i chose them, but i guess not hardy enough for my tank!

Is pondweed not elodea?
