Edit: Yes, I spelled "compaction" incorrectly...

So I went to a petstore today and their axolotls were really sad. They weren't as bad as I was expecting, but this poor thing obviously wasn't doing too hot. So I brought her home.

She was kept in a black tub with around 10 other (sad) axolotls. It was bare-bottomed, had hides, etc. I'm guessing she has ammonia burns based on the red irritations. She also obviously messed up arm; I'm assuming it's broken/dislocated. My main concern is the floating. I'm not sure what she could be compacted with. They did feed primarily rosy minnows and then she mentioned some kind of Mazuri shrimp pellets, which I googled and it might be freshwater turtle food.

I currently have her in a tub of cycled, clean water. I put her in the fridge. I'm planning on a tea bath. Any other suggestions, help, etc would be appreciated. I have dealt with weird axolotl medical issues, but I've never had anyone have floating issues, so I'm a little out of my element here.

We appreciate it!

I'd lower the water level so the axi isn't able to float. Sounds like you know what you're doing. Best of Luck!

Hello. I just noticed two notches, white small bubbles on the hind legs of one of my male newts.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. I also asked this as an actual question in a thread in case anyone wants to answer it there instead of here

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.
