Hello everyone! I proudly own two axolotl babies. I refer to them as “Sweetie Pie” & “Mudpie”.
Im not sure how old they are, since the pet store I got them from SUCK. They wouldnt help me and they cant tell me anything. I’m going to guess that theyre a few months? Like 3 inch long.

so the problem I’m facing is that Sweetie has been floating tummy up with a huge bubble in his gut for two weeks, now. Maybe two weeks and a day, realistically... My ammonia levels are 0, temps great, and all other tests come back fantastic.
Feeding them Hikari pellets, and soaking them before feeding.
i LOVE these guys and I’m worrying like crazy trying to help them....

Sweetie Pie has been in a fridge i bought special just for him for 1 1/2 weeks. The temp is a cool 5 celsius, and he moves and wiggles but hes so miserable because he cant get to the bottom.
Made one mistake of feeding him while bloated towards the beginning cuz i didnt want him to starve.

he has NOT passed any stool. The tank prior was clean; his water is clean.. bare bottom tank, as well... does anyone know what i can do? Please help Sweetie Pie find his happiness again!! Muddy Buddy misses him.
(pic included is him on his side holding the edge of a filter he kept clinging to. I can provide more pictures of him if needed, just ask!)

It sounds like a basic air bubble, pretty common in young axolotls, but typically an issue that goes away in less than a week. If I were you, I would seriously look into finding a vet who can help with axolotls. Advice on here can be useful, but only if seen by the right people. Here's what I can offer:

5 degrees might be just a touch too chilly for your little dude. I would suggest keeping the temperature between 9 and 13 C in the fridge. Is s/he interested in food? Axolotls can last for a while without food, especialy when chilled, but they still need it. It could also help to pass the gas bubble. The ideal weight for an axolotl is where the widest part of its body is about the same width as its head.

You can also lower the water level in its tub so that it just covers his/her back. This way, s/he can reach the bottom without struggling. Just be sure to keep an eye on the level so it doesn't get too low.

For the pellets, how long are you soaking them? I would advise against soaking them for more than a minute. You don't want them to fall apart and start fouling up the water.

You mentioned your ammonia levels, but what about nitrites and nitrates? What is the ph?
