Hi
I'm trying to do a fishless cycling of a new Finnex PX360 canister filter in a 10 gallon aquarium that I'm going to use as a intermediate home for my 2 juvenile axxies.
All I have in the tank only half full of water is a 2" Y PVC pipe, 2 artificial plants and 2 anubia barteri. I raised the temp to 85°F, added an air stone. I put 2ml of ammonia in the water at the start 9 days ago to raise the level to 2 - 4 ppm. I just took the anubia barteri out of the tank today because the temperature might be too high for it. The edges of the leaves were getting wilted and turning brown.
My question is the ammonia level hasn't changed since I put it in, should I still be adding more ammonia in everyday or just leave it until the level goes down. Should I be doing anything else? This is the first time trying to do a fishless cycle.
Thanks in advance!

Hello. I just noticed two notches, white small bubbles on the hind legs of one of my male newts.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
