Hello all,
I'm from Delaware and every early spring trout season rolls around. When I catch a female sometimes they have egg sacks inside, pink in color and about an inch or so long. So every spring my two firebelly newts get a treat that they seem to go nuts for, fish egg sacks! Does anyone feel this may be unsafe for any reason? It never seems to harm them and they actually seem to love it.

Well, thanks and take care:lol:

They are good as an occasional food source due to thier high fat content. I would be hesitant to feed them any fish eggs that came from waters that contain a consumption advisory as its possible to give them toxins that bioaccumulate in fats.

good point Ed. Luckily however all the trout in DE are stocked as no natural reproduction has been noted in our state:(
The fish spend about 2 weeks in the stream before season opens, hopefully too much doesnt accumulate that fast. I hadnt really thought about that tho, so thank you:kiss:
