I have an axie who is definitely carrying fertile eggs.. we put her in with the male intentionally.

He has bread with our other female and that went well and babies on the way :) Over 300 of them...

The axie that I put in there last night has never laid before. We have had her since a baby.

She is super swollen and her cloaca is large and we have seen her grab a hold of one plant and tried to lay an egg. I think she thought she was done.. This was the very first egg that she has ever laid, but when she pulled away from the plant it was still attached to her and following behind.

She is swimming around frantically which I know the girls do when they are looking for a place to lay.

The fertilization took place over 24 hours ago.. she laid that 1 egg and has since been swimming like nuts and not laying anything further. The one eggs that she did lay was smaller than I have seen in the past from our other female.

I just went to check on her and she was floating at the top of the tank .. if you could have seen the way she was acting all day she has to be thoroughly exhausted.

I turned the light on to check her out and she started swimming around again but no sign of new eggs.

I suppose I am used to our other female .. when they do the dance and it is time she gets it done fast.. no more than 24 hours of laying usually 12.. She even takes a break and eats in the middle. I suppose she is a trooper.

But this one has me worried .. there is a ton of stuff for her to drop the eggs on but it is almost like she can not figure out what she is doing.

I dont want her wearing herself out .. she has been swimming frantically all day .. I almost began to wonder if fertilization actually happened because she was taking so long to lay.. But I watched the whole process take place so I know she is. I know it can take up to a day for her to start.

I just dont want anything to happen to her.. I don't want her to get sick or stressed .. which she is showing no signs of either.

But I really feel like she should have at least got started by now and I dont consider 1 eggs very much of a start..

Have any of you guys experienced anything like this before.. it is almost like she is stubborn and dont want to lay them lol
