I've just finished setting up my tank for an Axolotl :)

Its 24x20x20in with a sump in the cupboard.

Overall it has a volume of 36 gallon (display tank is 29g)

Would the footprint of this tank be suitable for 2 Axolotls, or would I be best sticking to just 1?

(Rasboras will be rehomed before the Axolotls move in- their tank started leaking!)

Were you going to be keeping the glass bowls in your aquarium? I can just see an axolotl getting in there an not being able to get out....

If you were going to remove the bowls, you might be OK with two... One is definitely the 'safer' answer!

Your aquarium as is looks amazing! Good luck with your axolotl endeavor!

Thanks :)

I was going to keep them in there as the idea is that I can move the plants around to clean the sand properly without disturbing the plants too much and the Axolotl won't be able to dig them up :/
I'll see if I can add more sand and soil in the bowls so that it comes up to the rim so an Axolotl can't get in :) I didn't even think about an axie getting stuck in them! Thanks for the heads up!

I'll just stick to 1 Axolotl then :) there's one for sale not too far away from me that is huge! 12" at least :) I'll probably get him then he can have the full roam of the tank to himself :)
