First time buys a newt and want help

I am buying a emperor newt and discided to do a little research first. I want to know how big of a acarium i need. And how often they eat and how much. Also how much water there should be in that acuarium and how much open land space or plant life.

I am very new to this. and not quiet sure

My advice would be to identify the newt you are buying by its scientific name. That way you can get specific information on that species.As for common names many people call different species the same name. So learning the species is helpful in buying and searching. I would also recommend you permanently add http://www.caudata.org/cc/ to your favorites and study it. I am not sure but I think you will need to look at the species Tylototriton but I could be wrong. I always thought the Mandarin newt and the Emperor newt were the same but I could be wrong.

I assume that it is probably Tylototriton shanjing, which is mainly terrestrial. See:

One could live in a 10-gallon tank with a small water dish. If you wanted a "real" water area, you would need a larger tank, maybe a 20-long or larger.
