First morph P. caudopunctatus

Here is my first metamorph of any Paramesotriton; it is P. caudopunctatus. To me, it looks surprisingly similar to my Cynops ensicauda morphs.

Does this setup look reasonable? For now, the morph is hanging out in the water dish, but I doubt it will stay there.

The next morning it was out of the water dish. I assume it will probably stay under the bark somewhere. I will keep a few blackworms in the dish, just in case.

have you seen it eat yet? mine are fat enough but i havent seen them eat and am not sure if the good weight is still residual from before morphing. i have some at room temp and some at 65, they are very sluggish little guys.

Sluggish is right! They look like Cynops, but the behavior is completely different. The second one also morphed and looks good.

I stocked the tub with small woodlice and I'm adding some fruitflies every couple of days. All I can do is hope that they eat, there's no way I can know for sure until a few months from now, when they either look bigger or... not.

I've had three caudo morphs for 3 months. They are not shy, and feed greedily on fruit fly larvae.I have them separated in 6 inch tupperware homes. I'm amazed how alert they are as compared to other juves i'm raising. Will consider trying to get them aquatic in a few more months.
