I have 5 chinese firebellies in a 29 gallon tank with several plants, some driftwood, and terra cotta pots. As of the past week they have suddenly seemed much more active.
I know that at least one is female, for eggs have appeared (and disappeared, haha) before.
Could they simply be getting rowdy for "mating season"?
The tank is clean; I clean out decaying plant matter, poo, uneaten food, and the slight film of skin on top every few days. I also put in a few ice cubes every few days to help keep the water stay a bit cooler.
There have been no recent changes, other than the temperature outside has dropped a bit. However, my windows aren't open, so they shouldn't be able to detect a change.
Does anyone have any ideas? Should I be concerned? No-one seems ill.
Thanks for your help!
