Last week I was dumping out the water from the tank and long story short my newt leaped out into the drop sink, the automatic pump sucked him in past the grinder, and he was submerged in sludge under water in the pump for 15 minutes I got him out before he was sucked into the sewer pipe. He was limp at first but I immedietly rinsed him off and he sprung to life.

He had a slight piece of skin scratched on the side but other than that no visible injuries. I've been keeping his tank water clean and he just shed his skin, the injury looks healed, I have seen him poo, but he hasn't eaten since, has been breathing heavily and staying mostly on land but in the water he burps bubbles out constantly.

I'm wondering if the chemicals he was exposed to he injested, I don't know what else to do for him?

I'm not sure what else you could do... But if you have a vet you could bring him to?

Perhaps the newt suffered internal injuries as well as the external (that seem to be healing). It may not be amiss to keep it in the fridge for a few weeks. As far as it not eating - if it was at a healthy weight prior to the incident it could potentially go for a few weeks with no food (especially if is is moved to the fridge, as the cool temperatures will slow down its metabolism).

Best of luck! Good for you to take action to retrieve the little guy!

Great news! Not only did he poop today and eat a whole worm, he is swimming normally and acting himself!!?

Great to hear that your newt is getting back to normal.
Congratulations. :D
