Firebellied Newts Lifespan

Hi Friends,

Hope all is well !

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get the Chinese or the Japanese Fire Bellied Newts. Just wanted to know what will be their average life-span. Are they very short lived ?

If you get them from a pet store then chances are they will be very short lived. If you get a CB specimen then you will have the potential to get a lot of good years out of them.

hi, i've got a firebellied newt and i got him fully grown, and i've had him for 2 years so i'll say they can last at least 2 1/2 - 3 years from a pet shop. hope this helped!

With good husbandry they can live for many years - 20+. I'm not sure if there is a known average as such. Just like humans some die young and others have an extended innings. Anything between 10 and 25 years would be considered good. Captive ages will in theory be much longer than wild counterparts. Less exposure to disease and predation etc.
