So I just got my little Fire Salamander last Tuesday, and I'm totally in love

If I had to guess I'd say he's newly morphed as he's about the length of my pinky finger. I know these guys adore earthworms, but didn't know at about what size is recommended before you can start offering them. The one I had the states, I fed them to, but he was also considerably bigger when I got him.

Right now, he's eating pinhead crickets every couple days. Here's the little guy climbing out of his water bowl (which is a small overturned plastic pot tray)

He/she is lovely. You can start offering worms right away, if you are patient/persistent. Chop the worm in pieces and offer a piece using tweezers or a toothpick. It may take several tries until the sal learns to accept food in this manner. In my experience, there are significant nutritional benefits from worms, so it may be worth the effort.

ah very cool, just need to make sure the pieces are bite sized for him/her. I've already passed one hurdle, this guy accepts the pinhead crickets off of the tweezers already, which is fantastic. I really prefer this as well, because you know exactly how much they're eating. So now I shall scout out some wormies, there's a few good livefood online stores that stock them so that shouldn't be a problem
