I have 2, they've always got on until recently one of them is larger than the other- although they were the same size when i had them. this one will push the other out the way to get to food. well i was doing a water change today and noticed that my smaller newt has afew fingers missing and a chunk out of his tail.... so ive put him in a small transport tank (the plastic ones you'd put a goldfish in) i've put some blood worm in there and he's eaten them i know i'll have to change the water everyday but if i put him back in with the other he won't be able to eat anything. anyone advise what i can do?

Sounds very unlike Cynops....are you sure you have what you think you have?

yes i have 2 cynops pyrrhogaster. they have never had any problems before i've had them a year now

Mine also push the others and even give each other the odd testing nibble. No damage is ever done though.
It does sound irregular that one is actually harming the other. I think there´s a possibility for the wounds to be caused by an infection and not by the tankmate, a picture might help distinguish.
