Hello!
I just bought some fine sand for my 20gal tank I'm setting up for my axolotl. The bag says the sand is pre-rinsed. Should I believe that and just throw it in or should I still rinse it anyways?

Thanks for your help!

Rinse it before using it.
I've used sand that is pre-rinsed and put it straight into a tank. It turned out to be very dusty and took several days running a filter, and several water changes before the water cleared.
It's easier to rinse it before putting it into a tank than to try to clear things up afterwards.

Totally agree with Donna. I'd rinse it.
When possible, I like to rinse mine with rain water since tap water might leave a residue which could harm the beneficial bacteria that'll colonise the sand and help break down excretory products from your animals. Probably no harm either way.
