Hello everybody,
finally arrived today M.a.alpestris why so much waiting, along with the T.shanjing! :D I look like a kid! I bought them to my friend eljorgo are all excellent specimens and arrived in great condition! If you need anything do not hesitate to seek it! ;)
Gives pleasure to observe the energy with which those 2 creatures 4cm swim in the small setup that supply them!
How is my first approach to this species is likely to find me here more often, leaving some questions.
To begin let 2:
I had read that these newts are excellent climbers, however I was surprised one of them stay for 5 minutes glued to the glass out of water. Is this normal?
For these 2 juveniles prepared the setup that you can see in the picture, what do you think?
Soon I put pictures!
regards

Yes the "glued glass phase" is normal for all newts !!! :lame:
Perhaps you could provide them an emerged stone where they could sit on ?! Be aware to let water around the stone so that they would have no direct access to the glass !

;)

Thanks for the reply and advice Lev,
the water should not be in the best conditions, it was all prepared quickly! Now you have your mini setup more organized and with good water!
I did not know this stage in the life of newts, because these are the first juveniles I have. there have found strange!

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. I also asked this as an actual question in a thread in case anyone wants to answer it there instead of here
