Found another egg today...looks the same as the first one with one side white and one black.
The first egg changed inside to a greyish colour. Is that a good sign?

The eggs are brown and white when they first hatch :) and then turn white (I had some infertile ones that did that however; mine even changed shape a little); just keep an eye on them to make sure...CONGRATULATIONS.

That´s perfectly normal, Evut!! Congrats!!! :D

Thanks for your replies.
Unfortunately, things haven't been going very well. The eggs are going fuzzy one by one. I keep separating them and have already thrown a few away. I keep them in little tubs with tank water, changing half of the water every day and moving the eggs into a clean tub every 3 days. It's been very hot here...maybe that's got something to do with it.
It seemed to me that inside the eggs were changing and thought that meant development.

Today I thought I'll probably give up hope that there will be newt babies this time...and then I discovered a well developed egg in the tank, wrapped in java moss and hair algae. I removed it and hope the larva will hatch. There was also an egg with nothing inside...would a hatched larva leave it behind or was it laid like this?

Another question is regarding the fuzzy/mouldy eggs. Both of my females are laying so it's possible that one's got infertile eggs. I'm also wondering about the fertilisation process. Does a female carry eggs that were all fertilised at once, or can they be fertilised at separate occasions? And can they have a mix of fertile and infertile eggs at the same time?

Thanks for your advice!

PS: If I manage to raise some newts, the first one will be called Xavi (after Xavi Alonso  Congratulations, Rodrigo, your team made me very happy!)

Rub it in.....
(yes, spain deserved it)

It's normal that some eggs are infertile. If you have all fertile ones you're lucky.
An empty egg could mean that a larvae hatched from it. I suggest you go look for it :p

xD Wrong person....i really can´t be bothered, i hate football.

It´s their first breeding and they are quite young so a high percentage of infertile eggs is normal. Feed them well with nutritious foods and just let nature take it´s course. They might lay eggs for quite a time to come, and it´s likely that the quality of the eggs will improve over time.

The empty egg is either a hatched egg or they ate the embryo (they can be voracious egg eaters).
