I'm having temperature problems for the first time. Before my tank sat in the 60 range due to water bottles, but in my dorm room I have absolutely no heat control or windows, so the temps have been climbing. I keep 24 frozen water bottles in for each 12 hour rotation, but my temps have now climbed to 82, and I just can't freeze anymore bottles. There's no space in the community fridge. So, I',m looking at chillers and filtration.

One: what chiller will ideally lower a 55 gallon's temp down below 70 from 82? Preferably down in the lower 300 range. I have been researching, but it's hard to tell how much they'll lower my temps by the gallon - I'm not really sure what the power equivalents are. If anyone has knowledge of this, particularly people who use them in Australia (since I know many do) this would be great. I think I need one immediately, as the temps have gone from a concerning 74 to a very bad 82 in just 24 hours.

Two: I have a filter rated for a 55 gallon on it already. Will added filtration help the cooling? I have a fan in the room, and it just doesn't cut it right now. I feel like I'm in a sauna, I can't imagine what the axies are feeling. ("Oh Gawd, my gills are sweating")

Any help with this would be great. I don't have a ton of room, but I'll try and make some for the chiller if I need one. And I'm thinking that I do now.

most chillers will chill the water to a certain temperature below ambient.

I'm on the west coast of australia and perth is known for it's long, dry and hot summers. my chiller is rated to chill about 16 degrees (Celsius) below ambient and that set me back $800 AUD if that gives you a idea.the chiller is set to 17 and maintains it well.

perhaps you should consider fridging your axies if the heat keeps up and you have a fridge in your room.

Limited space. I have a mini fridge. They'd likely get stolen and eaten out of the community fridge. I already considered fridging, of course. I just can't fit 6 full grown axies in a mini fridge for the life of me. Two at a time only. I ordered an aquarium fan in overnight, and intend to pick up a bunch of two liters today and load them into the other community fridges. I can't figure out the chiller, and I cant afford more than 400, and even that's too much for something I'll never have to use again after 3 weeks. I've already taken considerations for everything - but I never expected everybody to turn on their heaters all at once and choke me and my axolotls out of my room overnight. I have no control over the situation, when I normally have a great temp of about 65 with no work involved. It's not supposed to get this hot here at all.

Also, I was asking about chiller HP. Since I do happen to be a college student that can't afford industrial strength.
