My 2 beautiful axolotls live in a 40 gallon tank. After switching around all my tanks I ended up with an extra 70 gallon canister filter. Do u think it would be too big for a 40 gallon tank? It has a spray bar to keep water circulation down.

As long as the flow isn't too harsh, it's fine. It might be a bit over-sized, but axolotls are pretty messy, so the bigger the better! My filter is 10 gallons too large, but many people recommend using one at least double the size of your tank. Your only real concern should be water flow, as it stresses the little guys out pretty badly.

I was going to aim spray bar right at the tank wall and add some ornaments by it that can break up the movement. Do u think that is enough to prevent the stress?

That will probably do it, but keep an eye on the water flow after you have it set up, you might need to rearrange things a bit. Also watch your axies for signs of stress. It's okay if you don't absolutely nail it on your first attempt so long as you notice that you haven't absolutely nailed it and do some reworking. And have fun with it, it's a fun hobby.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
