We have a 55l tank which came with a filter which was clearly too powerful. you could see her getting buffeted around and only really sticking to the bottom of the tank. so we got hold of a smaller filter designed for a twenty litre tank and even this seems to stress her out.

we have had her without a filter for a week doing daily water changes. and she seems much happier she is very active and enjoys swimming around and spending time all over the tank. now the filter is in she hardly moves at all. its the smallest filter i can find and ive turned down as low as it will go. i dont want to be doing daily water changes. what should i do?? please any advice

Hi,

What kind of filter is it? Depending on the type, we can probably help you get it adjusted.

Have you tried aiming the filter nozzle at the back of the tank or side of the tank so the pressure is basically hitting the tank wall rather than directly into the water?? I did this on my old tank (was also 55ltr and I used an Aqua Flow 100 filter and turned it right down) and it kept the water clean but caused no current :) good luck!

ello, thanks for the replies. it's an aquarius 200 aqualine, pretty cheap to be honest! will try aiming the nozzle - hopefully it will work - we shall let you know! :)

so how did that go for you any improvement??
