Hi
I am about to set up a new tank for my axies and I am looking at filters...

These are my options:

Eheim Liberty 150 - HOB 150 litres / hour
Atman AT-2218F - internal 800 litres/hour
Atman:
ATF - 301 - internal 300 litres/hour

Canister filters are way too expensive and for now with the new tank and all I cannot afford one ...

What would be the best option of those? I already have the Eheim liberty but when I tried it, it was quite noisy and I am not sure I can make it to do less current... I already use an internal Atman that works alright so far... but I don't know if internal is better than HOB...

Any suggestion would be very welcomed!!

thanks and sorry for all the questions ...

forgot to mention, the tank will be 150 cm long , 30 wide, 40 tall, about 150 litres... I usually clean all the waste I see...

I was told by the aquarium guys that I need a filter 3 times the capacity of the tank but I'm unsure that is true, specially about axolotls...

No, for Axolotls you need a filter that is rated for the amount of water you have, if not slightly less.

I'd go with the Eheim...not only because it's not an internal filter..but also it's rated for the amount of water you will have. Just make sure you find a way to disrupt the water being returned into the tank.

thanks!!
I will try it and see how to make it less current... the problem with the HOB is that I need to fill the tank up to the top... and then the "cascade" is quite noisy and water disturbing... maybe some plants underneath or something

my other option would be an internal for 150 litres?

Yeah, but internals run the risk of raising the water temps...why don't you fill the tank entirely anyhow?

I guess I will fill it to the top...
I don't do it now, there's no reason, just that I didn't from the beginning and how I'm used to the space...

Next week I am receiving the tank, I will let you know how it goes!
