I have an external filter that hangs on the side of my tank and it just unexplainably stopped working. The power in my house went out for literally 5 seconds before it flipped back on, but the filter didn't turn on with the rest of the house... So I tried taking the motor apart and it isn't looking like I can bring it back to life. Weird, right? Before the power went out, it was running like a dream. Blarg.

ANYWAY.

I happen to have another filter that isnt the same brand as my previous filter, but the inserts from the old filter seem to fit into it. I really don't want to ruin the nitrogen cycle in my tank - Its been going for a solid month now and it still hasnt fully cycled yet... Will moving the inserts from the old filter into this "new for me but used a long time ago" filter totally destroy my cycle? I don't imagine why it would, but it seems that the littlest thing could kill the cycle.

Thanks.

If the inserts are from the filter that used to be with the axie, and are going into the new filter, still with your axie, it should be fine. All that's doing is keeping the current bacteria in the tank, which is exactly what you want to be doing. Perfect!

Oh and even if there is no axie in your tank, as long as the inserts stay with the same tank (and water) you'll be fine! :)

Ok, good. That is what I assumed, but I thought I would ask to confirm. That is what I will do, thanks!
