Filter flow

Hi, I have a fluval u3 running in my 3ft axolotl tank. The water flow is quite strong and I want to reduce it. I tried putting plastic plants in front but they get blown over. any suggestions? (It has a spray bar setting but is still quite powerful)

hate to say it but most filters either have an adjsutable flow control, or they don't. This one doesn't appear to.

What I would think of doing, is turning it on it's side, moving it near the top of the water line, causing the spray bar to skin the top more than stir the middle. It won't dredge up the bottom as much, but it would cause less disturbance.
