I currently have a 10 gallon in tank filter running in my Betta tank, Its fully cycled however a betta has a much lower bioload than a axolotl. Will I need to re-cycle my tank? I put a second filter in the betta tank so I can give the bigger filter to the axolotl.

How would you go about doing this?

PS I have had my fish a month or more now and he has shown no signs of any illnesses ( Its a newly cycled filter but the liquid tests are all showing its where it needs to be)

Both filters running on the betta tank is a great place to start- the bacteria from the cycled filter should colonise the one which is going to the axolotl tank. However, once you place it, you will need to cycle the entire axolotl tank to ensure that enough bacteria are present to deal with all the waste your axie will pump up- just do the same as for your betta- small, frequent water changes, watch your levels, and when it all levels out, scale back to a point where you're keeping the nitrates low and the tank a happy, healthy environment :)

I am debating between a species of FBN or an axolotl ... But that shouldn't change anything.

However, I need to get my hands on some pure ammonia, I am planning on this tank taking about two months, One month of the filter in the betta tank and a month of dosing ammonia and waiting.

Update ... Axolotl it is and the tank is cycled :D
