Question: Filter cleaning

I cleaned my fiter this morning, turned it on afterwards and it spat a load of clear flakes out, looks like bits of skin from my leucastic axolotls, what is it and do i need to get rid of it and how?

Hi,

Its hard to tell from your description, could be lime scale or any number of things skin included that has not passed through your filter.

I would remove it.
