Went home today to check my babies(feed em and change water etc) and noticed my albino female(lulu) has had a biff with my newbie Wildtype (Milly) milly is missing an arm that has been pretty badly damaged, and part of one of her gills and lulu is missing the stump of a leg she was growing back after being attacked by my male.(who doesnt seem slightly interested in either of them thank god! no more babies for a while! he'd rather watch me and beg for food) i have seperated them and will wait for their sores to heal befor trying again. Does anyone have any idea why they would do this? i thought maybe they were just trying to establish their own area in the tank as lulu has been there for a while and might have felt threatened? and how long does it take an adult axie to re-grow an entire new leg at normal room temp?(im not allowed to put them in the fridge)

Adult axolotls often fight over "space". Some of them will accept a new tank mate some wont.

You might want to remove Lulu from the tank for a while and put the new female in that tank and let her get established then add Lulu back to the tank. Always feed them well and keep them full when adding new axolotls to the tank. Make sure you have lots of hiding places so they can get away from each other.

If they can't get along you might want to get a tank divider.

I don't know how long it will take the leg to regenerate. In some cases they do not grow back missing parts.

Thanks heaps Cynthia, ive removed Lulu for now, and my new girl is finally settling in, she seems to move around the tank alot more now, and she is eating so thats a good thing. i might have to look at getting a divider. Thanks for your help
